Issue with Viper4android Edited by Ramtin at 2016-02-09 09:59
I'm not really sure what is the problem me and many others with pro5 have in Viper4android app. As flyme does not support hifi in speaker or bluetooth headset (which I use intead of wire headphone) me and many others need a good softwere like Viper4android (Which is the best in android market right now) to improve the sound quality. I'm not really sure why we cannot install derivers of this app. The problem I guess could related to SELinux (cannot be permissive, kernel related issue), root has problem/bug, incompatiblity with Busybox in pro5 or problem with SuperSU or some ristriction to edit "audio_effects.conf" or other parts in flyme 5. I saw people with mx5 or mx4 or other meizu phones has no problem and the problem only acuure in meizu mx 4 pro and meizu pro 5. Can anybody help us to make it work in pro5?

ultrametric replied at 2016-02-09 16:42 You mean suggest to add it as a feature? But, it's only pro5 and mx 4 pro problem and in other phones they can easily install it if they want.

It's software related problem actually as I said maybe pro 5 and mx4 pro has some restriction or bug in their firmware that not allow people install 3rd party audio enhancements like v4a or maybe busybox or super su does not work properly in pro 5 (it seems unlikely because, other apps like TB works good) Or maybe it's more related to SELinux. Actually v4a need proper working permissive SELinux mode. With below way you can get working V4A in all meizu phones except pro5 and mx4 pro Make sure you have latest stable/test flyme 5 firmware 1. Root your phone 2. Download & install SuperSU 3. Install it's binary in the app with normal way 4. Download & install latest Busybox 5. Download & install latest version of V4a from their official site here 6. Open app and give it root permission and install it's necessary drivers in app and reboot your device (if not working try change mode to compatible mode and install drivers again and reboot)

I forgot to mention that I tried to manually add & replace the files from .zip file I found in here and set permissions manually but, I got bootloop after this and after "android is upgrading" dialog phone freeze
As we don't have custom recovery in pro5 and cannot get it because of lock bootloader I cannot flash this zip so tried to manually move files from zip to system folder

ultrametric replied at 2016-02-10 17:19 I asked about the issue in V4A thread in XDA and here is the answer: "I've looked at your phone's stuff in the past and it's obvious that audio effect processing is not going through audio_effects.conf. There are a ton of different files, you'd have to find the right one(s), and then translate those v4a entries to a readable form by both v4a and the phone's system." So, if it's true problem is with Meizu settings and how they manage audio output
