A patent application filed by Samsung earlier this year suggests that the company is working on its own version of a notch. But instead of placing a single notch at the top of the display, Samsung wants to put two notches on each side of the smartphone's edges covered by the screen.

One of the side notches will house the volume buttons while the other one will host the power button. The side notches will be surrounded by the glass panel that will extend completely around the edges, however, it is not certain whether the unique design will ever be implemented by Samsung.
