Flyme 5 vs. Android 6Hello friends
I am back with a thread and in this thread I am going to do a comparison between Meizu's custom OS, that is, Flyme OS and the Stock Android OS. Meizu has been releasing the Flyme 5 for all of their devices from the past few months and is also planning to release it for the other devices as well. I have heard many people complaining that Meizu doesn't provide updates to the users and most of the time they are demanding for Android 6, that is, Marshmallow. But do the Flyme 5 users actually need Marshmallow? UI design We will not compare these OS in the terms of User Interface because Flyme is a heavily customized version of Android itself. Battery There is a feature of "App Standby: no more battery drain from seldom used apps; App Standby limits their impact on battery life so your charge lasts longer." in Android M. Similarly the Flyme OS users can use the Settings app to restrict apps from "Auto Launch" to save the battery. Another feature in Android M is of "USB Type C support: Quickly transfer power and data all through the same cable. Lightning fast charging gives you hours of power in just minutes." which is already there Flyme OS because the Meizu PRO 5 supports USB Type C for fast charging a.k.a mCharge 2.0 There are additional features in FlymeOS to save your battery life such as "Low power mode", "Super mode" and "Customize mode" which can be enabled from the Security app. Security Android official site says, "On an Android Marshmallow device, apps designed for Android Marshmallow only ask for permission right when it’s needed. You can deny any permission and still continue to use the app." The same thing is also there in Flyme 5 where a pop-up window appears asking whether to give the particular app a particular permission or not. There is an "Advanced controls to turn permissions on or off for all your installed apps." in Android M which is similar to FlymeOS Security App -> Permissions. Android M feature of "Use fingerprint sensors* to unlock your device, make purchases in Google Play, authenticate transactions in apps, and pay in stores." is already present in Flyme 5 with which you can Lock your phone, Lock the Vault and Lock the Apps. Device set-up and migration In Flyme 5 it is very easy to backup the apps with its data and other system settings using the Built-in "Backup and restore" app in case you want to Reset your device or change your device. Miscellaneous. There are many more features in such as "Wake up the screen" which will wake up the screen (lighten up) when New notification would come in the non-pocket mode, showing "Current network speed" built-in, Checking Wi-Fi speed and connection is also integrated in the system. Easy mode for elderly people who have problem in reading small letters. Quickshare to share files using Wi-Fi for high speed transfer. Customizable DND mode. Ability to apply different themes, live wallpaper and change font, etc. Ability to change color temperature, Ease of rooting (Chinese firmware), Gesture wakeup, Smart Touch, Calibration of sensors from Developer options. Flyme Account to sync personal data so that it can be restored whenever needed. Ability to choose Default apps in Settings. Swipe down on Home screen for Notification panel. There are more than thousand system tweaks to make Flyme better in terms of performance and battery life. So, do still still want Android M over Flyme 5?

Stock android wreck Flyme in every single way but navigation and multitasking for me, those are parts where Meizu did an amazing job as mBack, gesture and multitask are by far superior to their aosp counterpart. Now do I still feel like we need Marshmallow? No, I'd rather have it skipped for Android N as I said in another thread. What I feel we really need, at least for the global market is a stock build (aosp) of Marshmallow as Flyme is way too tailored for the chinese market which results in all of the issues we're (me and many others) facing. Anyway you forgot another important part which is some neat apps required sdk level 23, so you cannot install these on Flyme 5.
