The Meizu PRO 7 might feature a secondary display on its back panel, according to a set of alleged renders of the device that were leaked online on Wednesday. The images originated on Chinese social media website Weibo, showing three variants of the device that aren’t similar to other supposed sightings of the phone that have been uncovered in recent weeks. This discrepancy between the two sets of leaks actually gives more credence to the newly revealed ones as Meizu’s Senior Vice President Jeffery Yang said on Tuesday that the upcoming Android-powered smartphone won’t look like its alleged depictions that have been circulating the Internet so far.

The possible Meizu PRO 7 depicted in the new renders that can be seen in the gallery beneath this writing is much more similar to the Meizu PRO 6 that was released in mid-2016 as the device sports a physical Home button and regularly sized bezels, just like its predecessor did. The back panel of the device shows a dual camera setup that has already been the subject of several previous rumors about the device, with the one depicted in the new renders also featuring a horizontal alignment, albeit with a dual LED, dual tone flash unit being placed to its left, on the very edge of the rear plate. The camera setup of the handset is located immediately above what looks like a secondary display that takes up approximately 20 percent of the phone’s back panel. The screen depicted in the renders isn’t turned on and there’s no way to tell what its capabilities might be.

The Meizu PRO 7 was initially expected to be released in April but the device has yet to be announced by the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer in any official capacity. Recent rumors indicate that the smartphone will boast high-end hardware, including a flagship system-on-chip (SoC). As the Meizu PRO 6 is over a year old now, it likely won’t be long before the Zhuhai-based tech giant unveils its successor, though it remains to be seen whether the newly uncovered renders have any basis in reality. More details on that front should be available in the coming weeks.
