No u don't need to clear app data but u will loose root. You can root again on updated beta firmware

If you dirty flash the firmware you'll face bugs and think that the firmware is buggy but the bugs are actually there because of your apps' old cache and data. So it is advisable to clear data when installing a new firmware. No personal data will be lost.
