What is Android Pay?
Android Pay is a mobile wallet based payment system that comes directly from Google. It can store details of users credit cards, debit cards, loyalty cards etc. Presently it is available in US only. Google will release it in the UK market very soon.


How does Android Pay work?

Android Pay require NFC technology to work with. User need to download and install it from Play Store, login using Google account and add debit/credit card details... good to go. For now only participating bank/financial institutions card can be added. Adding card details is so simple that the user need to scan the card only using the in app scanner.

Android Pay supports both retail outlet purchase as well as in app purchase.

Retail outlet purchase
Buyer can pay by simply unlocking your Android phone with pin or password, then placing it near the merchant's contactless terminal, and that's it. Android Pay is integrated with the phones normal unlock mechanism, and unlocking the phone automatically enables it.

No need to open any app to process a payment. It just lets the user to tap and go, and then receive the confirmation/transaction details on the phone.

In app purchase
Google is also working with developers to get a "Buy with Android Pay" button added to their apps, which means, just tap that button and swiftly checkout, rather than entering card and shipping address  for every  purchase.

Is Android Pay secure?

Android Pay is based on industry-standard security tokenisation. With tokenisation, the retailer receives a newly-generated, 16-digit virtual number instead of actual account number. So, if there is any major credit card data breach at a retailer, it can be safely assumes that card is safe.

Which devices are compatible?

Android Pay works with all NFC-enabled Android devices running KitKat 4.4+. It currently supports any mobile carrier and tap-and-pay location across the US.

Which stores accepts Android Pay?

Android Pay can be used anywhere, where  Apple Pay is accepted or any place with a contactless terminal. As per Google, it works across 1 million US locations.
