MWC16: Fingerprint Cards announces biometric sensor on the screen Currently, there is increasing smartphones support the biometric sensor and the ease of this feature will depend on the preference of each. We have mainly two flavors when placing these sensors: the back cover of the terminal or the front below the screen, the ideal would be to have the built-in sensor on the screen. Well, the Fingerprint Cards and TPK companies have recently developed a prototype that "hide" one FPC1268 sensor underneath a typical glass panel. "Using FPC1268, the manufacturers will be able to incorporate fully the sensor beneath the glass smartphone, allowing innovative designs." - Jörgen Lantto, President and CEO of FPC. The new sensor is based on capacitive recognition technology, which is used in current best players. The sensor works with glass FPC1268 to 300 micrometers thick. This design also works with strengthened glass, which means smartphones protected extra screens may also benefit. The Fingerprint Cards will make a statement during the MWC in Barcelona, which starts this Sunday! But until then watch the video demonstration below. | |

This is a great and innovative technology... No need of those ugly looking sensors anymore... Hope it gets implemented into smartphones soon...
