6) PlayStore UI Changes

Google is testing out new changes to the UI of the Play Store as there are new banner graphics, and the consolidation of movies, music, and books into a single “Entertainment” header

The Play Store, like many other Google apps, is no stranger to server-side UI updates; however, it's pretty rare for Google to be testing multiple changes at once. Currently, Google is not only testing a renamed Entertainment section, but also a different look for the carousel, the removal of the search bar, and a new Google Play Store banner.

7) Pokemon Go New Update

The update is now rolling out as version 0.41.2 for Android users (1.11.2 on iOS) and it not only brings improvements to the game's gym system and catch rate bonuses — but a few other welcomed changes as well. Here’s the full changelog from the development team:

  • Catch Bonus: Trainers can earn a catch bonus for a Pokémon type as they catch more of a specific type.
  • Updated Gym Training: Trainers can now bring six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms. The CP of the Pokémon you are battling may be temporarily adjusted lower for your training session.
  • Egg & Incubator Screens: These will periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen.
  • Fixed several audio issues.
  • Decreased the evolution animation time.

8) Duo Replacing Hangouts In Google's Mandated Apps For Manufacturer's

Google has a core set of apps that are part of a package that manufacturers have to pre-install on any phone they sell in order to maintain  access to the Google Play Store. For a long time, Hangouts has been one of those mandated apps that’s required in the GMS package for  Android smartphones.
A new email  sent out to Google Mobile Service partners on October 5th makes some changes to the mandated apps list. Now, Hangouts is no  longer required to be bundled with any new hardware. Instead, Duo will be taking its place in the line-up.

9) Latest Google Maps Update Adds A Traffic Widget

10) SwiftKey Beta Update

Swift Key Beta debuts an Incognito mode, a privacy feature that hides the words you type in from the keyboard’s memory. By opting to prevent SwiftKey from learning your input, you can maintain a certain level of privacy and security for sensitive data such as passwords and banking credentials. You can activate the Incognito mode from the keyboard’s quick settings, which will then change the color of the background to a dark theme with a mask.
