Flyme is a strongly customized android. So its maybe Android android 6 but has already functions which were introduced with android 8. Therfore the Version number is not that necessary. But it would be nice if they would update android versions too. Much more important is the Security patch level. And there is the problem, because the security patch is released evry month by google but meizu only implements one in a year or something like that..

For what reason do you want to root your device? For updating to Oreo?
I just searched for a oreo software for your device besides flyme and i found none. So rooting wont bring you much benefits if you are ok with your actual system.
