Meizu to shut down collaboration with Ali on Nov 28th, closes cloud services

The collaboration of Meizu with Ali will soon end as the latter is suspending its cloud storage servers facility completely. Meizu customers have been relying on the cloud services provided by Flyme but soon they will not be able to access their accounts and for the same reason, Meizu is telling them to quickly back up their data which is currently present online.

Cloud storage services are great if one doesn’t want to clutter their system’s storage. Meizu had provided Flyme’s cloud storage services altogether for all its customers. But, the collaboration between Meizu and Ali, which is responsible for providing cloud servers, is soaring and this would affect the customers who were continuously making use of this service.

Meizu said it is shutting down the Flyme cloud services, including the Gallery app and Document Management app and, eventually the end of the collaboration of Ali’s cloud servers. It should be noted that Ali cloud servers had already stopped providing online storage to individual users back in October 2015, but Meizu compelled the company to carry on the collaboration for one more year. It makes sense that now Meizu has no reasons to convince Ali once again.


But, you shouldn't worry as this change won’t happen abruptly. Meizu is making its customers aware of this change and telling them that it’s closing the Flyme cloud services gradually.

On September 28th, the company will not allow to uploading more photos to the albums on the cloud, but you’ll be able to download and backup all the photos on it from my.yunos website.

On November 28th, Meizu will completely shut down the collaboration with Ali’s cloud servers. So, customers will not be able to access it anymore. So, you should better take a backup before this day comes.

Meizu knows the value of its customers and their priorities. And, for the same reason, Meizu is going to launch a new album cloud service in November 2016 which is the same month when the company will end support of Ali’s cloud servers. This means Meizu will not let go its single customers empty-handed. However, we are yet to know the name of the Meizu’s own cloud service. The new service will be safer more flexible, and offer a stable environment.

For now, Meizu and Ali are working together to migrate users’ album data from one service to another, but they still suggest to make a backup as the process might not work 100%.
