When it comes to mobile security neither Android or iOS is safe to malware or virus that lurks on the web. That is why it is always advisable to keep the firmware up to date and download only apps from the Google Play or App Store and from the trusted developers. As long as there are people who tries to steal your information from your device, they will always try to find a way how to hack your devices.

I think the big issue is all about applications and their permissions...Simply, ask for too much, but probably, most of people do not pay attention on this issue...

It varies with individuals usage. I think it's safe.

Android is secure as long as we keep our devices updated and do not download free apps from unknown sources or do stuff that would risk our own security... Android might be doing its best to keep all its devices secured...

Absolutely insecure till the time you see pirated apps, and content out there accessible to open public ..
Hackers will decompile the apks and insert the malicious code and make that apk available for free downloads | |

Yes it is & Google is also trying to make it more secure. But the OEM should keep their devices updated regularly
