Hi guys! Sorry for a bit late today, because here in Flyme team we are enjoying an 8-day national holiday And I got a little too excited and lost track of time ...


But anyway, better late than never. Here are the technology news coming from last week.
P.S. since last week some members gave some great suggestions about this column. After consideration we decided to list the news and summary directly rather than attach links. This way users can get the gist faster and easier.


1. Microsoft's Ignite Conference: new machine learning tools and quantumn computing
Like a lot other major companies in the industry, Microsoft invested a lot on its AI projects. On Microsoft Ignite Conference, a new machine learning tool was introduced for developers who want to build new A.I. models and users who simply want to make use of these pre-existing models. For developers, the company launched three major new tools today: the Azure Machine Learning Experimentation service, the Azure Machine Learning Workbench and the Azure Machine Learning Model Management service.
Also at its Ignite conference, Microsoft put its stake in the ground and discussed its progress in building a quantum computer and giving developers tools to experiment with this new computing paradigm on their existing machines.



2. Uber CEO's apology
For the reason of 'not fit and proper to hold a private hire operator licence', London’s transport regulator has withdrawn licensing from Uber on Sep 22nd. As a response to the situation, Uber’s new CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has written an open letter apologizing for “mistakes we’ve made”, and thanked the users' support for the past few days. He also writes that Uber “must also change”, and says his intention for the company is to “run our business with humility, integrity and passion”.

3. SpaceX plans to use spaceships for Earth passenger transit
Elon Musk was at IAC showing off his ambitious plan to ultimately make Earth an interplanetary species, and one of the new pieces of his plan he revealed was Earth-to-Earth transport using SpaceX rockets to cut down trips to almost anywhere on Earth in under an hour, and to most destinations in under 30 minutes.

4. Google Assistant is coming to Android TV

Nvidia Shield TV, the Android TV-powered smart TV streaming box that offers 4K and more, now also includes built-in support for Google Assistant. Nvidia’s integration of Google Assistant was first revealed way back in January, but the feature was announced as something that would be coming later. Now it’s arriving to Shield devices courtesy of Nvidia’s 6.0 software update.
5. Dyson is working on an electric car

Dyson, maker of high-tech vacuum cleaners and fans, has long been rumored to be getting into the car game. That’s no longer a rumor, as the company has confirmed that it’s working on a battery electric vehicle with an all-electric drivetrain to be launched by 2020. The news comes from Dyson founder and CEO James Dyson himself, who announced the project via an internal company-wide email. The email details how Dyson’s original vision for the cyclonic motor that’s a trademark ingredient in its hand dryers and vacuums was originally inspired by a desire to take emissions from diesel engines out of the air.
6. Twitter lets you to go long
Twitter for the first time is expanding beyond its 140-character limit, the company announced today. The social network says it will now try out a longer limit of 280 characters in select languages, including English, in order to allow people to share their expanded thoughts without running out of room to tweet.
The feature will initially be made available to a small group of users for the time being, as the expansion is considered more of a test than a large, public rollout for now.

The company says that it came to the decision to expand the character count because it realized the character count limitation more heavily impacted those tweeting in some languages — like English, Spanish, Portuguese or French — as compared with others, like Japanese, Korean and Chinese.
7. You can now choose which comments to be displayed on your Instagram posts

Instagram is celebrating its milestone of reaching 800 million users on the platform, and 500 million using it daily, with new comment moderation tools that make it easier to silence anyone being potentially offensive. The new comment tools mean that if you have a public account on Instagram, you can limit comments to specific groups of people, including your followers or people you follow. Plus, both public and private account holders will be able to block accounts from commenting on their posts.
8. Apple switches from Bing to Google

Apple is switching the default provider of its web searches from Siri, Search inside iOS (formerly called Spotlight) and Spotlight on the Mac. So, for instance, if Siri falls back to a web search on iOS when you ask it a question, you’re now going to get Google results instead of Bing.
9. Purchasing an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus does not require waiting in a queue
Overshadowed by the iPhone X, or maybe they're just too close to their predecessors, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus has encountered unprecedented cold reaction from fans and customers. Apple Stores around the world were prepared to face huge crowds but found out few customers have shown up in the first selling day.

Whether you’re familiar with Meizu or not, Meizu has done something really nice with the M6 Note making it a really good mid-range offering that comes packed with extra features, a fluid user experience, and a great camera, as well as hardware that is more than capable of keeping it running throughout the day without the phone dying on you, as well as handling a fair amount of multitasking and gaming.
