Here’s the list of smartphone getting the Android Nougat update

In June, Google announced Android 7.0 Nougat as the next iteration of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The company released the new OS to the public starting with the Nexus devices in late August. Unveiled last month, the LG V20 was the first smartphone to boot the latest version of Android out-of-the-box, followed by the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones,                                     which were unveiled earlier this week. Several manufacturers have also announced their plans to upgrade their devices to Android Nougat. We have compiled a list of all the smartphones which are confirmed or expected to receive the Android 7.0 treatment. 


Nexus

Google begin the roll out of Android Nougat starting with the Nexus and Android One devices. Unfortunately, the Nexus 5 will not be updated to Android 7.0:

HTC

As it did with previous versions of Android, HTC was one of the first companies to reveal its Android Nougat update roadmap. The brand has confirmed an upgrade for some of its flagships:

Sony

Sony recently announced the list of its devices that will be getting the Nougat update. The Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ will be the brand’s first smartphones to receive Nougat sometime later this month:

Sony Xperia X (around November 2016)

Sony Xperia X Compact (around November 2016)
Sony Xperia XA Ultra (early 2017)
Sony Xperia X Performance (around October 2016)

Moto

Motorola (now owned by Lenovo) has always been among the first companies to update its smartphones to the latest Android versions. Recently, the brand confirmed the list of its devices that will be getting the update. It will be seeded first to the Moto Z and Moto G4 4th-gen sometime later this year, and to other devices later:

LG

As mentioned above, the LG V20 is the brand’s first smartphone to boot Android Nougat out of the box. The brand was one of the first to deliver the Marshmallow update. With this in mind, we expect these LG devices will be treated to Nougat soon:

Samsung

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to its smartphones starting with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. The brand has also revealed the list of its devices that will be getting the update in the coming weeks. As of now, these devices are confirmed to get the update, although, we will update the list as soon as the company announces the update for more phones and tablets.

ASUS

ASUS has a bad reputation when it comes to updating its phones to latest Android versions. However, we expect the brand to upgrade its latest ZenFone series smartphones to Nougat in the future:

OnePlus

OnePlus recently teased the Android Nougat update for the OnePlus 3 flagship. We also expect the brand to update its other recent phones to Nougat as well:

Xiaomi

Xiaomi is currently working on the next version of its Android skin dubbed MIUI v9, which will be based on Android Nougat. These Xiaomi devices are expected to receive the Nougat update:

Huawei announced that Android Nougat update for its devices will be rolled out sometime in the first quarter of 2017. The brand has also confirmed that the update will arrive in the form of version 5.0 of its EMUI skin. These Huawei devices are confirmed to receive the Nougat update.

Honor

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor recently started rolling out the Android Nougat update for the Honor 8. The company has also confirmed that the same update for the Honor 6X will be released sometime in Q2 2017.

Some other smartphone vendors like Lenovo, LeEco, OPPO, Coolpad and domestic vendors like Micromax, Karbonn and Intex are yet to reveal or hint at their plans regarding the Nougat update.

And Meizu not even in the list..so sad
