Meizu MX5 serious problem - phone randomly shut's down by itself Edited by reFFLex at 2016-03-17 20:07
First off - I must say that up until yesterday (16.03.16) I seriously loved my new Meizu MX5, which I got on 07.01.16. So the phone has been in use for more than 2 months. It has been super responsive in any possible way, without annoyingly long lag's inbetween my touch and the expected result (i.e. all apps/windows opened quickly, everything runs smooth and swift). The best phone by far that I have ever owned. Up until now... The problem appeared in a very disturbing manner yesterday, when I discovered, that it had shut down itself unnoticed. I managed to boot it up and a little later the phone was shut off again. Then the real trouble started, when the phone did not boot up and shut down in middle of booting. Therefore I had to restart it several times and occasionally it reached the blue-balloon-Flyme-screen with white background and showed me a progress bar with information about apps being optimized. This process also failed to finish successfully. Today (17.03.16) the same god damned disturbance again, but today the phone has been able to fully boot and be functional for a while. Every now and then I check, whether the phone is still on and every now and then I discover, that it needs to be started again. For just in case I took my old LG phone with me so that I would not get in extreme trouble, when this Meizu decides not to start again. I don't think this is a normal situation. I saw from meizufans website that the same kind of anomaly has been seen also by other users, but nowhere I haven't found any cure for this problem. I really don't like the idea of getting rid of this otherwise superb phone and replace it with another one, when there will be no solution for this. Hopefully somebody close to Meizu factory reads my post and is able to propose some working solution for this issue. Or maybe anyone else who owns a Meizu MX5 is able to share his/her's experience with the same kind of problem.

You are not the only ones who have experienced this . Many users complain about sudden restart the device . I think it's a memory problem. There is information that the device repair and sell and then device start rebooting.. Buy phones from reliable sellers.

I also had similar problem in my mx5 and sent it back for exchange. My phone never fell of my hands and never had any problems before. I tried flashing other version of firmware also the one that I received it from meizu. But I found no solution to that problem . It fixed alone for 2-3 days and then suddenly it never booted again. It only showed some weird artifacts in the screen. I think it is a hardware fault . So I advice you to send the phone back for repair... It is very unfortunate for meizu to have such problems. I have changed many meizu phones and used them for a long time but never had similar problems. Only with the mx5. Hope that meizu looks deeply into that problem and fixes the bug.

I have been dealing with this same nasty shutdown problem for the past 3 months. Initially it started by randomly rebooting the phone and then after an update of the Firmware transitioned into complete shutdown of the phone. I have tried almost everything - different firmware, factory resets, different simcards in different slots rooting/unrooting you name it... nothing helped. However my latest observations are all described in this thread on meizu fans https:// meizufans . eu /forum/topic/4668/mx5-shutdown-randomly/15 Basically if I keep the battery level above 50% I am not experiencing shutdowns at all. Once for the past two weeks I let it drop below 50% and then it shut down. I dont know if I have something there but it could be related to battery profiles in the security app, worth checking by FlymeOS developers.

Hello! I have been reading this thread for the past day as this is pretty much what happened to my MX5 (international 32gb model). Any new info on the subject? I have a question, how were you able to charge your phone? Mine died with just a little over 40% battery left and has not charged or booted up completely since. If I turn it on it is stuck on the Meizu logo. If I plug it in to the charger without turning it on, then all that shows is the charging indicator, albeit briefly. I simply cannot get the thing to charge. Any ideas?

VinnieJones replied at 2016-03-29 04:20 Same problem here. My phone has only 3 months and i am already suffering daily shuts down. I was looking for any solution, and I saw that it is common issue and users of mx5 around the world are complaining. I am not sure if the cause is of firmware or hardware origin. Any help by Meizu would be very welcome.

Perhaps the shipping caused the damage, I specifically asked the seller to put more foam to prevent it, and before they shipped it to me i requested a pic of the package so i can really confirm it.

Looks like it is software problem (flyos bug) related to action center in standby mode.
In flyos 4 it turns off the device (or maybe hang). And in flyos5 it makes device restart in standby mode. Check my post: http://forum.flymeos.com/thread-4799-1-1.html
