Changed From A to G - Safe? YES! Edited by JakobD at 2016-04-09 18:22
Hey I recently brought a Pro 5 back in January. I have been tearing my hair out because i was running an A version of FlymeOS. It didnt quite work with snapchat notifications or calls. It sounded like my earpiece was broken. Now that i have switched firmwares there have been an improvement in call-quality. I found the toturial on Meizufans: https://forum.***/topic/2599/gui ... nese-mainland-meizu I used the third option and had sweaty pals through the whole thing, but when I finally got everything done, i realised that is wasnt that hard or unsafe for that matter! But there is a twist because you cannot move the system.img to you root, you can only move it your sdcard(normal transfer methode - no terminal) so when in terminal i had to create my own path by searching the folders for my .img-file. But that was the only tricky part, the rest was easy with no dangers at all. Of course it was nerve recking that the device suddenly turned black but the terminal told me that the procedure was done. If you have any questions concerning switching firmwares, or just if it is worth it for a (not-asian) Meizu user, please write below and I will do my best answering your questions.

Well, the problem came after 5.1.3.1? The earpiece just lost strength and clarity and now it really sucks, the earpiece is practically unusable, broken.. Could it be a hardware problem ore?

There already is a tutorial to install international firmware. But it includes rooting the phone just like in all other meizu phones. After that you should download the firmware in your pc and extract 2 files from inside with some kind of extractor and copy them to your phone. And then a simple su command to do the install... But the only thing you do with that is to install the international version... The phone's id remains Chinese... Additional you cannot update OTA after the procedure...

You have 2 ways to do it. First way just copy and replace the system folder of rom and does not change bootloader or other parts of the rom so, you cannot update it over OTA or flash G rom on it. Second way is to convert your phone to official international phone which is more difficult than first way but, benefit is you can update over OTA and flash any G rom on your phone (+ more riskey way) you can google it and find both ways on the internet. And if you could not do it/find it let me know. I will tell you the way you prefer. (1 or 2)
