You can actually unlock the bootloader and it's pretty simple. I followed the guide and ended up unlocking it. The page that I,ll link is in Russian, so you should use google translate extension to help you understand what you need to do. Ps, this tutorial also enables you to install a custom recovery.

Until now, there's no way to unlock the bootloader since Meizu doesn't share the kernel source code. Some other series that can unlock the bootloader are not legal ( using bugs vulnerability to unlock it ). Also, Mediatek development are much slower than Qualcomm.
