I think it will never get android 9. Because of huge reorganization in headstuff, now meizu it china state by half controling company, so it will be bad for us, global users, so forget about android updates at all

Meizu should understand this only a good hardware doesn't mean anything. Good hardware + software means something. If they will not understand this soon or late they will loose.
It has been around two weeks that 7.2a is out for Chinese products and we are still waiting on 7.1.1.1g that's not acceptable. If you don't plan to support your devices you shouldn't sell at all. 2-3 year old Chinese brands are receiving Pie update and still we don't know even we will get pie or not on this called flagship phone. That's a big shame for a such a great device. Planning to buy more Meizu products like Bluetooth headphones etc. but they loose me if it continues like that. Otherwise I will sell my device and never look back again. . I Don't want to deal this buggy firmwares.

Meizu shouldn't aim for global market yet. I bought 16th 2 weeks ago. Phone feels premium, looks pretty good. It is very snappy, interestingly fingerprint works fine, and it has a good sound. But the flyme, itself, made me thinking to get a new phone. Usually I switch phones every 2 months, but it's the second phone, after iPhone se, that I decided to change that fast. And again- the main reason is flyme. I am used to custom android modifications, and especially Chinese ones, but flyme is way too inconvenient, if you compare it to others, like MIUI. It doesn't feel logical or intuitive. Not enough costumizatiom. And not all, simple functions, are working well. For example - why can't I simply change home screen grid? Splitsceen- so many excessive movement. The look of flyme is another talk. It's not ulgy, but it looks Old. System font is terrible. Calculator is nice. ;-) So, in conclusion I would like to say that- I wouldn't advise to buy this phone or any other models, made by Meizu, yet. Yet, if nothing happens to their politics. I had essentiall ph1 spring 2018 and had pretty stable pie already at that time. Totally no desire to have an outdated device.
