[Activities]Roundtable: Everything you cared about is hereYesterday, after the successful launch event in Delhi, the Flyme team met the coming fans for the Roundtable Discussion with Pony and Jennifer.
On the discussion, our fans raised many questions about Flyme's features and services. We believe these questions are also very concerned by our forum users, here are the answers: 1. What is your plan on supporting more Indian languages? A: Currently we support 3 Indian languages: Hindi, Bengali, and Tamil. Currently our main focus is to make Flyme completely International with English. We’ll consider adding more indian languages later. Also India has a lot of languages, we’ll do research to see which languages should we translate on priority. 2. Will you release kernel source code? Will Flyme be open sourced? A: The kernel source for every model will be released after several months after the phone launch. But the code for Flyme part will not be open sourced. 3. When will you rollout marshmallow? A: We’ll try our very best to rollout marshmallow for every device within this year. But since Android M is not a very big upgrade, and Flyme has a lot of features that is there in M. A near possibility is that we might skip M and upgrade to Android N directly. 4. Will we have a software on PC which we can manage our phone data, backup data or flash firmware? A: We are working on an PC application in which include the feature for users to transfer, store and manage their data and backups. It is just a very small part of this application and it is in the primary developing stage. 5. When will you open the Themes store, and will you be able to mix-match the themes? What about fonts? A: The Themes store is already available in beta versions, and we’ll release it in June’s stable version. Currently users cannot mix-match the themes in the store, but we’ll have contest later to encourage users to design their own themes. As for the fonts, the Themes store in China supports different fonts, therefore we want to bring this feature to our global users too. We are talking to font companies for this , hoping we can release this feature soon. 6. When will overseas users be able to use Phone Finder? A: Phone Finder is a very practical and important feature in Flyme. This feature will need support of Flyme account and cloud service. We’ll bring it back once these two services go online. 7. Will the contents in Themes store be free? Will there be theme contest prize? A: We’ll hold a theme contest soon after the Themes store is officially online. As for the fees, we’ll respect the designers, if he wants his themes to be charged, the contents generated by him will be charged for fees. However, we’ll find ways to get more excellent resources for free and encourage designers in different ways to inspire them to upload more free themes. 8. Will you provide music or video streaming service? A: We are actively talking to content providers of cooperation. However, cooperation in video and music streaming service is tricky, we want to provide the best experience to our users, so we are still being selective about cooperations in this field. We’ll enrich the multi-media contents of Flyme, that’s for sure, but we cannot give you a roadmap yet. 9. Just now you mentioned a lot of Android M features that already exist in Flyme 5, how about smart lock feature? Will Flyme support that? If it does, will it be supported on Flyme 5 or Flyme 6? A: The features were all evaluated before they got added into Flyme. We’ll see how much this feature is needed by our users, if it’s expected by majority of users, we’ll consider raise the priority. 10. Will Meizu set up R&D Center in India? A: India has so many talented developers and engineers, to begin with, we are looking forward to work with local freelance developers. 11. What about the Indian government’s policy that all phones must be equipped with emergency button? Will all phones get this feature or only new models will? A: We heard about this policy, and if this policy is mandatory, we’ll comply with it and add this feature to all phones. If the hardware does not support this feature for some models, we’ll add this feature to Flyme and make it work. 12. We submitted a lot of suggestions on the forum, which are marked as ‘Adopted’, but we haven’t seen these features yet in Flyme. When will these features come true? A: These features are all submitted to our product manager for evaluation and schedule. Some feature might be small so the priority is low and some might need time to develop. We’re working very hard to bring more features to you guys as soon as possible. Some gifts we had for our fans 13. Is the major version of Flyme upgraded yearly? Or you are doing upgrade whenever you decide it’s necessary? A:In the past, we happened to release every major upgrade in September, but that doesn’t mean we’ll release new version of Flyme every year during that time. We’ll evaluate our system and upgrade the major version of Flyme only when it’s necessary, but we’ll continuously add new features with regular updates. 14. Will Flyme support phones other than MEIZU phones? A: We are mainly focused on our current models. But for other brands, we are willing to port Flyme to popular devices. Also in future we would work with freelance developers to port Flyme to other brand devices. 15. Will we be able to experience Flyme apps without using a MEIZU phone? A: Yes. The developing team in Flyme is divided into several devisions according to apps and services they are working on. It is partly for the purpose of releasing independent Flyme apps in the future. Now we already have Memos app in Chinese app store, other Android phones can also use Flyme Memos. We are evaluating the thought of bringing this app into Google play store. In future we’ll bring you more Flyme apps. 16. What about the Android security patch? If you are not upgrading to Android M, will our security be vulnerable? A: Actually, in every upgrade, we add Android security patch every time there is a patch available. We didn’t tell you because we think it’s a very natural and necessary thing to do. Flyme is very strict when it comes to security. Here comes the Flyme family photo See you next time

Many others and myself agree that Meizu should skip the Android M update and rather focus on the rollout of Android N. They have already stated that flyme already has a lot of the features that in found in Android M. I think that this is one of the top priorities issues as many customers are dissatisfied based on this alone. Other competitors have already rolled these updates out long long ago. This seems to show that Meizu is an incompetent competitor in this sector. Something which they should strive to improve on soon if they want to keep customers. A other point to look at is also corresponding information important to customers so that they can feel valued as customers.

A real questions for dev team : Will next flyme have a decent audio fx like Dolby atoms or viper4android ? Because everyone is asking for this . I bought the meizu pro 5 exactly for this . It suppose to be the best in audio (probably it is hardware) ,but other phones with Dolby ( software ) an probably not so best in hardware obtain a better sound experience . I had the ZTE Nubia z7 and I know what
I 'm talking about . If you ask any possessor of the meizu pro 5 , I think you will have not a single one negative answer ( meaning no , I don't want Dolby )
