[Tech Hub] A New Week Awaits! We're keen to learn what's going on in the tech world, and we love to share, therefore we have this new column right in front of us --- Tech Hub! In this thread, we'll share on a weekly basis the interesting news selected by our team. And here are some news and stories from last week! Google is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary… we take a look at the pros and cons of the search engine and how it changed the world At around 65 million, Spotify has more monthly paying customers than any of its competitors by far. One of the reasons is that it was one of the first in the streaming music space, and another is that it has a fairly simple user interface. But the biggest reason by far is the fact that Spotify continues to make affordable deals with its main customer base, with the latest partnering with Hulu as a perfect example. A cyber security expert who has protected Google's systems for 15years said Monday no one is safe from internet attacks and software powered by artificial intelligence can't help defend them. Heather Adkins, director of information security and privacy and a founding member of Google's security team, also advised consumers not to put sensitive personal information in their online communications. According to the information we’ve viewed, the Google Home Mini (official name) will arrive in Chalk, Charcoal, and Coral colors. The Google Home Mini will be powered rather than wireless, at least according to the images here. This Google Home Mini will be able tohelp you with your schedule, set reminders, grab news, and other Home-related inquiries. It’ll cost just $49 and, of course, sports Google Assistant. One factor that might influence your decision is the fact Apple seems to want more money for fewer features. Most prominently, iPhone X doesn't include a 'Touch ID' fingerprint authentication system, but instead checks that your identity isauthentic with 'Face ID',which is used to unlock the phone and authorize payments. That prompts another question: Is Face ID better? Google is paying handsomely fora massive "acquihire." The company said late Wednesday that it would pay HTC $1.1 billion for a team of employees of the Taiwanese phone maker, including many who have previously worked on the Google-branded Pixel phones. Separately, Google willget a non-exclusive license to HTC intellectual property. Forusers of Apple’s iOS the imminent arrival of a major new update to the mobile platform is generally a moment of high excitement. In the case of iOS 11, iPad users have the most to be excited about — including a new system-wide dock where favorite apps can live, and a bird’s eye view of recent apps and workspaces. There’s also a new spring-loaded, drag-and-drop system. At TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2017, Thrun talked a lot about flying cars and how that was the future of transportation. So did GGV’s Jenny Lee, a prolific investor in China. And so did Steve Jurvetson, one of the original investors in SpaceX. The technical backbone for flying cars seems tobe there already — with drones becoming ever-present and advancements in AI andself-driving cars — but the time is coming soon that flying cars will be the primary mode of transportation. Snap wants its adsto open to something interesting rather than a boring mobile website. Today Snap announced 14 new ad Creative Partners that will help build custom games, interactive videos, gyroscope-powered epxeriences, lead generation campaigns, and pre-loaded Instant Apps as destinations for Snapchatads. They’ll also help connect advertisers to influencers, despite Snapchat historically distancing itself from social stars. Ford Motor Company on Thursday unveiled details about its use of Microsoft's HoloLens augmented reality technology in the automotive design process. Ford's design teams have swapped out their clay-sculpting tools -- astaple of the automotive world since the 1930s, when Harley Earl introduced them at General Motors -- for mixed reality headsets and visualization software.
