Meizu MX5 serious problem - phone randomly shut's down by itself Edited by reFFLex at 2016-03-17 20:07
First off - I must say that up until yesterday (16.03.16) I seriously loved my new Meizu MX5, which I got on 07.01.16. So the phone has been in use for more than 2 months. It has been super responsive in any possible way, without annoyingly long lag's inbetween my touch and the expected result (i.e. all apps/windows opened quickly, everything runs smooth and swift). The best phone by far that I have ever owned. Up until now... The problem appeared in a very disturbing manner yesterday, when I discovered, that it had shut down itself unnoticed. I managed to boot it up and a little later the phone was shut off again. Then the real trouble started, when the phone did not boot up and shut down in middle of booting. Therefore I had to restart it several times and occasionally it reached the blue-balloon-Flyme-screen with white background and showed me a progress bar with information about apps being optimized. This process also failed to finish successfully. Today (17.03.16) the same god damned disturbance again, but today the phone has been able to fully boot and be functional for a while. Every now and then I check, whether the phone is still on and every now and then I discover, that it needs to be started again. For just in case I took my old LG phone with me so that I would not get in extreme trouble, when this Meizu decides not to start again. I don't think this is a normal situation. I saw from meizufans website that the same kind of anomaly has been seen also by other users, but nowhere I haven't found any cure for this problem. I really don't like the idea of getting rid of this otherwise superb phone and replace it with another one, when there will be no solution for this. Hopefully somebody close to Meizu factory reads my post and is able to propose some working solution for this issue. Or maybe anyone else who owns a Meizu MX5 is able to share his/her's experience with the same kind of problem.

i had the same problem. You have to disconnect battery from mainboard for a while and then plug it back. So far i had no issues after this procedure. Its really easy to dissasembly, only 2 screws and voila

On top of this... ROM 5.1.10.0G won't allow me to upgrade to a new one because there is a bug in recovery mode. It looks like the only way is to do it in fastboot mode, but this is risky and tricky
I will not make same error twice so I will come back to google devices (nexus or pixel) very soon

Meizu MX5 random shutdown solution: the problem is in FLYME 5. Just flash old ROM 4.5.4.1, an everything will be fine.
I have contacted meizu support, but they are passive for this issue. So people..it's all about flyme.... When will they fix it....??? One million dollars question... If you use flyme 5 without no instalations....it won't shut down....obviously flyme5 kills something.... I have almost completely new phone sent to service center for no reason... Flyme 5 is buggy...Meizu,,,shame on you...

alimome replied at 2016-06-19 14:06 I´m afraid there is no help for this problem. I´ve had the same issue with my mx5 and couldn´t find any solution. Finally I ordered new phone, Xiaomi. It seems to be pretty common issue but nobody could find any solution.
