Who said marshmallow will be available by the end of July? 7.1 will be released as a beta by the end of September/October in the Chinese firmwares.

Yes, 2 core changes for a budget device aren't cost effective as Meizu has to pay to get drivers from MTK. Besides, Marshmallow is already pretty old so moving to N is the best option.
