Edited by HemRoy at 2017-05-21 10:47 It's not a joke, The kernel of all stock rom for m2 currently available doesn't support volte because they has simply disabled it during building the kernel. Means we are not going to get volte at all as meizu has not changed the kernel of m2 since 4.5.3i.

what if we use some other OS.. are there any chances to get volte?

No, all the custom ROM are based on the kernel developed by meizu, even the lineage os for m2 still designed on the criteria of m2 stock kernel. No new features can be ported as kernel for every device is not similar.

Enabling volte from kernel level required those libraries to support kernel listening the calls from volte stack. Volte call is done using modem driver that access APNs for volte calling and old modem may not have those calling functions which is why they did not enable volte. Thus to get volte in m2 we need new kernel with volte library and new modem driver which meizu will never gonna give as update as their business policy doesn't allow them to do that. Technology always driven by business.

Every firmware of all meizu devices has this function, it's the upper layer of Android where interface is rest. Actual works done by the driver that has to be device specific. During building the firmware, they just disabled it in the building property of the firmware due to missing driver of mt6735 4G IMS. Otherwise firmware couldn't be built. He just rooted the firmware and modified the building property sheet and restarted the phone but due to missing driver VoLTE didn't work.

One of Lava mobile has same mt6735 and has volte also , so if we can port the rom for meizu m2 will it be possible get VoLTE integration

Volte functions depends on the modems drivers and on the kernel. Though both device has same chipset it doesn't mean that both devices internal hardware design should be same and to know that Lava phones kernel is needed first. So ask lava to provide kernel source first.

Older devices like Meizu M2 will not be getting VOLTE update. You have to use JIO4GVOICE to make calls.
