While we all are waiting for Stable release of Flyme 6 Global, let us dive into the history of Flyme OS. Before Flyme 6, we all were using Flyme 5 OS and many of us also used Flyme 4 OS for some time, but what about Flyme 3,2 &1. These previous versions of Flyme OS are the reason of Flyme's success. So, let's know something about previous versions of Flyme OS also.


Flyme 1
It was first released for Meizu MX on June 12, 2012. It was based on Android 4.0.3(Ice Cream Sandwich). Users loved it for its simple and beautiful UI design. Later it was also released for Meizu M9.

Flyme 2
It was  released on November 27, 2012 with launch of Meizu MX2. It was based on Android 4.1.1(Jelly Bean). It was released with lots of improvement such as cloud services and built-in root support etc.

Flyme 3
It 3 was released on Spetember 2, 2013 with the launch of Meizu MX3. It was based on Android 4.2(Jelly Bean). Flat UI and Dirac HD sound was integrated in this OS. Dirac HD sound was praised by many users due to improved audio quality using different earphones and it was also integrated on future Flyme OS versions. Flat UI was later also introduced by Apple in iOS7.

Flyme 4
It was unveiled on September 2, 2014 at the launch event of Meizu MX4. It was based on Android 4.4.4(Kitkat). It was also made available for many non-meizu devices (Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC & OnePlus One) later which made it first meizu firmware to be ported to non-meizu devices.

Flyme 4.5
It was unveiled on June 2, 2015 at the launch event of Meizu M2 Note. Global version of Flyme 4.5 was first released for Meizu MX5 on December 14, 2015. Apart from A, Y & G version , I version was introduced with Flyme 4.5 only for Indian users.It was released with upgraded Android version i.e Android 5.0(Lollipop). Due to upgraded android version, UI was fast and smoother. In Flyme 4, Immersive mode was limited to only system apps but in Flyme 4.5, all 3rd part apps can be added in Immersive mode. Animations and transitions were improved a lot. Meter Seperation was added in camera application. Power Consumption was also improved. "Clear App Cache" option was introduced when you uninstall an app. It was the best Flyme OS version until Flyme 5 was released after 114 days.

Flyme 5
It was unveiled on September 23, 2015 at the launch event of Meizu Pro 5. After 1 year of hardwork (After Flyme 4 was released), Flyme 5 was released based on Android 5.1(Lollipop). Global version of Flyme 5 was first released for Meizu MX5 on January 6, 2016 and it was released for rest of Meizu devices on February 4, 2016. I version was removed with introduction of Flyme 5 and it was integrated with G version for Indian users. All of us were using Flyme 5 until the Flyme 6 Open or Closed Beta were released. Flyme 5 was optimized, refined and was based on Flyme 4. It was brighter and more colorful. File Explorer was updated and was more compact in design. Power saving was optimized. It was more secure and security app was updated. Multitasking was improved a lot as compared to Flyme 4. Unfortunately, HD Dirac Sound was removed in this version. People are still requesting for it but can not say whether Flyme 6 will integrate it or not in Global Stable in near future.Rest you better know about Flyme 5 as you used it most and still using it till Stable Flyme 6 Global Version is released.

Flyme 6
It was unveiled on 30 November 2016 (After exact 430 days) at the launch event of Meizu Pro 6 Plus. It is based on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and Android 6 (Marshmallow) based on the device. It probably will be udgraded to Android 7 (Nougat) by the end of this year. As there are already hundreds of threads, reveiws and tutorials on Flyme 6, so i do not need to explain its new features. Flyme 6 First Closed Global Beta was released on December 30, 2016 and more than 600 beta testers were recruited for beta testing this time. Hundreds of bugs were reported and developers are fixing all of them so they need some time so that we can get better Stable version. Flyme 6 Public Global Beta was first released on March 3, 2017 (Download Here) and latest it was released on April 11, 2017 (Download Here).
