Flyme 6 has many bugs. One of them is draining the device's battery fast. I don't know if Meizu has fixed this and other bugs yet, since they are releasing only beta firmwares (especially for M5, M5 note & M5s), neither has an update to the original Flyme 6 has been released (e.g. 6.1.0.0G -> 6.2.0.0G or 6.1.1.0G). If you check the original post, a lot of people upgraded to Flyme 6 and said they had battery issues.
I myself have stayed with Flyme 5 (5.1.12.0G to be exact) since the upgrade to Flyme 6 is controversial among a lot of users. The problems that are said (device overheating, fast battery drainage, camera/camera focus issues etc.) are present in my device too - even in Flyme 5.1.12.0G. If I play a game that requires medium capabilities, the processor overheats. It even overheats if I let the device for 30 secs ~ 1 min in the sun! One time, it reached up to 45°C with no processes open!! Another day, I was playing Traffic Rider (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skgames.trafficrider) and I had about 70% battery. After 1 hour of playing, the battery went down to 22% and the processor was insanely hot (47°C)! Unbelievable! It should have been (at least) 40%. I don't remember about the past, but this issue has recently appeared (began in June 2017). Also, the majority of the Meizu devices have MediaTek (MTK) processors. They may be fast and reliable, but from my experience, they are huge battery suckers. They require a lot of energy to operate under medium pressure (e.g. games which require low to medium capabilities such as Traffic Rider which I stated above). The results are: overheating and fast battery drainage. 3 weeks ago, I was trying to capture a scenery of a mountain far away (but not so far, I think it was 2-3 km away from my position). The camera did not focus, even if I tapped the screen literally twenty times. And as a result the image was kind of blurry. Maybe not a software problem. I'm 90% it's a hardware problem (the lens are not so good). Indeed, Flyme 6 is not the best update. I don't know if Meizu is trying to fix the issues or not, also something has come up to the surface yet. In conclusion, Flyme 6 and MTK processors do not mix. It drains the battery fast and it overheats pretty often. Also, the lens are not very good and this issue was revealed mostly with the Flyme 6 upgrade. Lesson: It's better to stay with Flyme 5.1.12.0G. | |
